Welcome
Few can foresee whither their road will lead them, till they come to its end.
~J.R.R. Tolkien

As this website has evolved, I have done a lot of thinking on what in life are the things most important to me.   These things stand out above all the rest: my family (in which I include friends), my faith, the natural world, and music.  These pages represent my wanderings through some of these areas, as well as other topics that interest me.  Click on the graphcis to venture to another page.  Each webpage in this site has a link back to this homepage at the bottom.

GeorgiaHow did a "Connecticut girl" (as my husband endearingly calls me) end up in warm Georgia?  From North to South, the story of a budding musician, runner, naturalist and scientist.  My childhood, college and grad school years in a nutshell

My friends and family - those that have webpages, that is.  I am truly blessed in my community and in my wonderful family members.  This website is dedicated to all those who have touched my life.

How did a "Cradle UU" become a Christian?  My journey of faith from a longing-to-believe agnostic, to an atheist, to a theist, and ultimately to a believer in Christ.  My journey of faith has been strongly influenced by and tied to music...

"There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is." ~William P. Merrill  "Music is well said to be the speech of angels." ~Thomas Carlyle
Music is as central to my being as breathing.  In fact, I cannot remember a time when that was not the case.  Although I never "majored" in music in an academic sense, it has never been far from my pursuits.

One of the ways I have most enjoyed music has been through singing and playing the flute at wedding ceremonies.  Merely being present for the exchange of sacred vows is a powerful emotional experience; being able to participate in such a reverent moment continues to awe and inspire me.

There is nothing better on a rainy day than curling up on the couch with a cup of hot tea and a book.  Much the same can be said of any sort of day, actually.  I've been a lover of books since I was a child...some of my favorite authors can be explored here.

Having longed throughout my childhood for the company of cats, I am now fortunate enough to share my life with several.  To my astonishment, I became a "dog person" relatively recently, and am now the happy mom to two sweet pups as well.  One of our pups is an adopted labrador retriever.

If you are planning on adding a sweet labrador retriever to your family, please consider adoption.  This page can help you find a lab rescue near you.

This year of severe drought in Georgia has gotten us thinking about how we use water.  Even if you don't have the money to purchase water-saving devices, there are still many things you can do to save water.  Here are some ideas for conservation.

Although I originally planned on becoming a doctor, I fell in love with geology when I (re)discovered the fascinating field of paleontology.  This page is my unabashedly paleontology-biased list of Geology resources.

Are you interested in foraminifera?  For those who are interested in these unicellular creatures, this is an annotated bibiography of some journal articles I ran across while working on my Master's thesis.
nb: This list is nowhere near complete.  I started it years ago and quickly discovered that webpage creation didn't lend itself well to thesis-finishing.  I do still plan to get the rest of the references up someday, but I thought I'd put these up just in case they might be useful.

Do you like to camp?  Hike?  Are you hoping to find a job involving outdoor activities?  I had a difficult time finding online job listings when I was searching for environmental education jobs.  This page was my attempt at consolidating ee job lists.  This page is dedicated to my park ranger days.

The wonderful world of myth, fantasy, fairy-tales and legend... I have long been a fan of fairies and Arthurian tales, in particular, and this page explores them.

I stumbled upon the phenomenon of free cross-stitch patterns on the web several years ago.  I've been able to print some wonderful patterns (and have even gotten around to stitching a few).  Here are links for some of the best pages.
