Friends and Family Pages

I am tremendously grateful for my wonderful friends and extended family.  I really must include the two as a single category, as I consider many of my friends to be family, and many of my family are my closest friends.  Although the vast majority of my friends and family do not have webpages, several do, and I have included links to their pages here.

  • Tim and Joanna's blog.  Tim and Joanna recently began attending University Church with us, and we have watched with excitement as they have transitioned from a young married couple to the parents of adorable twins!  Their blog is wonderfully written ~ they've been writing it jointly since early 2006, and it details, among other things, their trip to Paris, Joanna's dissertation and teaching anecdotes, and (of course) the joys of pending and new parenthood.

  • Bekka's Suzuki studio.  A dear and cherished friend whom I first met in college, Bekka belongs to the rare category of "Renaissance woman."  An accomplished seamstress, musician (on more instruments than you could imagine), singer, artist, and speaker of multiple languages, Bekka and I spent many an hour singing and talking together on MIF at the U of R.  I still have the gorgeous ball gown she made me for the Viennese Ball my sophomore year (and got to wear again in her wedding).  Bekka and her family now live near Boston, where she has a Suzuki violin studio.

  • Alen's homepage.  Alen is the husband of my dear childhood friend Tracy, also a multiply-talented woman.  Tracy and I have been friends I think since age six.  Our families have also been friends for all that time, and truly are family to us.  Alen's homepage includes beautiful pictures from his and Tracy's wedding.

  • Aleta's research page.  Aleta was one of the first friends I made here in Georgia.  We were thrown together, so to speak, working on a class project together for a grad class called "Plate Tectonics" (one of the best classes I ever took).  We had a big project/paper/presentation to do together, and I can remember staying up successively later on four consecutive nights to finish it.  We discovered in the process that we have many interests in common, and have been close friends ever since (and weathered a lot of good and bad times together as well).  Aleta was also, incidentally, the person who got me interested in web page design, for which I am grateful!  Aleta also has a MySpace page, here.

  • Kristin's blog.  Kristin and I first met when we played in a junior high orchestra together, though we weren't to become friends for another year or two, when we both attended the youth group for the Universalist church in West Hartford, and also both attended Laurel Music Camp.  Kristin is a fellow musician and fellow scientist, and we briefly both had connections in Georgia when her then-fiance (now husband) was a student in Atlanta.

  • Zonker's blog.  My brother.  The best.  Yes, that is his real name.  Website not for the faint of heart (or at least not for the easily confused).  One of the best people you could ever hope to meet.  Are you listening, all you young, cute, smart, single women?  Hint, hint!!  (am I a typical sister, or what?)  He also has a friendster account here.

  • Natalie's homepage.  Natalie and I were roommates for several years while we were both in grad school.  I had the rare pleasure of singing with her in several venues, and sitting around the piano singing... I miss being able to hear her voice.  She is a lovely, amazingly talented, fun woman.  She and her husband Kevin have a new baby, and now live in New York.

  • Alexis's blog.  Aleta's sister, and my friend originally through Aleta.  Alexis and I had our daughters very close together, and it's been fun trading pictures of our sweet girls.

  • Laura's blog.  Our daughter's very first babysitter!  A nurse, and a warm, supportive friend.  We met through UC.  She also has a Xanga site, thought she mostly writes in the blogspot one these days.

  • Dianna's blog.  I first met Dianna when she was a vet tech.  Now she is a vet!   She's a fun, caring person who is perfect for a veterinary career.  It's been fun to find her again in e-space.
